Trigun - fic rec

Fandom: Trigun
Word count: 776
Character/Pairing: Meryl Stryfe/Milly Thompson
Meryl Stryfe, Milly Thompson
Summary: "Meryl would be lying to tell herself she isn’t happy."
Why I Rec This Fic: Of course watching Trigun my heart latched to the female side characters and their dynamic and AO3 does not have much for them, :(
But it has this sweet little bit and I like it.
Her cheek rests against something warm, and there are fingers combing delicately through her hair, nails scraping lightly against her scalp. It almost makes the hangover feel worth it, honestly, just to be doted on like this.
“You sure slept in a long time, Meryl!” Milly comments, a bit too brightly. She laughs as Meryl groggily reaches up, patting around for her mouth to shush her, and missing several times before her fingers come to rest at Milly’s lips.
Title: Catechisms by severalspoons
Fandom: Trigun
Word count: 1008
Character/Pairing: Nicolas D. Wolfwood
Summary: "A catechism is a religious teaching presented in question and answer format."
Warnings: christianity, cults, child abuse
Why I Rec This Fic: I love this kind of repeative formats.
What is God?
God is the inner voice prompting me to protect children, and the guilt when I kill. God is memories of love and peace, sealed away and almost forgotten. God is any sprout of goodness that manages to survive on this dirtball of a planet.
Are People Good or Evil?
People are mostly a lost cause once they grow up and harden, but children can still be kind. If everyone has to kill or be killed in this world, then I will take over the burden of killing so more children can remain innocent.
Title: The Birth of Stun Gun Millie by severalspoons

Summary: How Milly got her gun.
Why I Rec This Fic: I love Milly. I like to see more fanwork centering her.
Title: A Little Piece of Paradise by XmagicalX (Xparrot)
Fandom: Trigun
Word count: 9190
Character/Pairing: Vash the Stampede, Meryl Stryfe, Millie Thompson, Original Characters
Summary: "You can't always wait for Eden; sometimes you have to seek your own."
Why I Rec This Fic: I am a big fan of characters building their happy endings.
Vista's plant had failed over a decade ago, as eventually they all would, but there was water running underground, and long before they lost the plant the people had enough foresight to sow seeds. Now trees had grown, more than just saplings, trunks stunted but still stretching bravely up to the harsh sun. The people of the town were beyond proud and protected their triumph zealously, fawned over the trees like parents with a sickly child, watered them with sweat and tears so sweet the salt didn't shrivel the roots.
The strangers worked in the glade with the same devotion as those born in Vista. The women hoed to keep the caked earth loose and helped build the sand-shield walls. The man trapped wormlings and released them in the deep desert, and pruned branches lest one plant inadvertently kill another with shade. He was the only one whose hands didn't shake when he set clippers to that fragile, precious greenery.

Title: a virtue in a vice by procrastinatingbookworm
Fandom: Trigun
Word count: 580
Character/Pairing: Vash the Stampede/Nicholas D. Wolfwood
Vash the Stampede, Nicholas D. Wolfwood
Summary: "A cold night, warm bodies, an oft-retread path through a fundamental disagreement."
Warnings: canon typical self destructive behaivor
“Usually,” Wolfwood says. “People learn pretty quickly that if you keep your heart unguarded, you’re going to get a knife in it.”
Vash laughs. Near-silently, but his body moves with it, the heat of him rippling beneath Wolfwood like he’s just another patch of sun-soaked sand. “Better my heart than anyone else’s.”
Nicholas D. Wolfwood is a lot of things. Priest, gunman, liar. A lengthy accumulation of mistakes, in a body older than he ever thought he’d live.
But he’s not cruel. He tries not to be, at least.

Character/Pairing: Vash the Stampede/Nicholas D. Wolfwood
Vash the Stampede, Nicholas D. Wolfwood
Summary: "Vash dreams of rain."
Why I Rec This Fic: I am never over the rain in the desert motive.
"Damn," Wolfwood says. "Been a while?"
"Yeah," Vash said. Twenty years, he thinks, but Wolfwood doesn't need to know that. There are lots of things Wolfwood doesn't need to know; lots of things that don't matter right now. Wolfwood looks hungry, desperate; it's been a while for him too, Vash guesses.
Two years, looking for him. Vash has trouble imagining it. People have looked for him longer, but they've been looking for money or fame, not him. He lets Wolfwood pull his shirt off.
Title: say it's such a fault by procrastinatingbookworm
Fandom: Trigun
Word count: 1975
Character/Pairing: Vash the Stampede/Nicholas D. Wolfwood
Vash the Stampede, Nicholas D. Wolfwood
Summary: "It's been a bad, bloody day. Wolfwood lashes out."
Warnings: PTSD, canon typical violence, intrusive thoughts, body dysphoria, discussion of suicide, canon-typical self-destructive behaivor
Why I Rec This Fic: Nice angst.
Wolfwood shouldn’t tell him. Vash will tear himself apart with it, and it’ll be another scar of his that’s Wolfwood’s fault, like the trifecta of bullet wounds on his shoulder.
He shouldn’t tell him, but he’s already started to, already splashed the messy anger in his chest onto Vash, and now Vash is looking at him, with—fuck, Wolfwood’s a real asshole—tears in his eyes.
“Stop?” Vash asks, all uncertainty, sounding so much like one of this kids at the church, braced to be abandoned, that Wolfwood digs an unnaturally-elongated canine into his bottom lip until he tastes blood so he won’t drop to his knees and explain everything, tear the whole thing out at the roots and break Vash’s heart right there, instead of waiting for Knives to give the order that it’s time to deliver.

Vash the Stampede, Nicholas D. Wolfwood
Summary: "The problem with touch starvation is that it can be easy for even good, welcome touch to become overwhelming."
Warnings: sex
Why I Rec This Fic: When it comes to smut, I really like the negoation/communication/things going wrong bits, I find it interesting how characters interact with that. The respecting of boundaries and open communication is also nice to read for me.
Title: And Every Breath We Drew Was 'Hallelujah' by varilien
Fandom: Trigun
Word count: 3079
Character/Pairing: Vash the Stampede/Nicholas D. Wolfwood
Vash the Stampede, Nicholas D. Wolfwood
Summary: "How can he justify any of this? He’s the only one to blame for Wolfwood’s suffering now. Maybe that's human. Human to share your sorrows with another, the same as your happiness. Still, it feels rotten at the time, and Vash wants so bad to make the pain go away, if only for a while."
The angle is wrong when they both move back in, a little too fast, and Vash makes a startled sound when their noses collide painfully. Wolfwood recoils and curses, but when he opens his eyes again, he finds Vash has started wearily laughing. Wolfwood isn't long to follow suit.
"I'm sorry," he begins.
"No no, it's fine," Vash giggles, "here, I'll—"
He brings his hands up, every motion deliberate as he takes Wolfwood's face between his palms, and there's a warm, sappy mix of amusement and tenderness in Vash's eyes as, first, he kisses Wolfwood's nose in apology. Then he bumps his own nose up against Wolfwood's again, though much more gently this time as he nuzzles back in.
Wolfwood can't contain the soft sound he exhales straight from his heart, half like a whine.

Fandom: Trigun
Word count: 3570
Character/Pairing: Nicholas D. Wolfwood, Vash the Stampede
Summary: Trigun: Wasteland Rumble: "Wolfwood grieves unnecessarily. Vash makes it up to him."
Warning: sex, alien biology
Why I Rec This Fic: I love their awkward tenderness, they are trying, it is not working that well, but they are Trying.
“I’m sorry,” Vash says, his voice wobbling. “How can I make it up to you?”
Wolfwood should say let me look at those bruises, just sit down and rest and don’t argue for once while I take care of you, keep kissing me like that, you don’t have to cry, I’ll be gentle.
Instead, he backs off of Vash and starts unbuttoning his shirt. “Get yourself out of that coat.”
Vash nods. He looks… relieved, or something similar. He yanks on something inside the collar of his coat, and all the buttons pop at once. “‘Take it out on my ass’?” he asks, an uncertain little smile touching the corner of his mouth. “Was that a specific request, or—?”
“Just take your fucking clothes off,” Wolfwood says. “Make it up to me, Christ, you’re unbearable. I missed you. Can you let this be about that, instead of some fucking favor you owe me?”
Title: The Gospel According to Wolfwood by DWatson
Fandom: Trigun
Word count: 4172
Character/Pairing: Nicholas D. Wolfwood, Vash the Stampede
Summary: "Vash is a gentle soul, capable of weeping at the sight of a freshly fried donut. It's annoying and unsightly, but like a badly wrapped present, it's what you have to put up with, if you want to get to the good bits. Wolfwood-centric journey through Trigun Maximum."
Why I Rec This Fic: Nice Wolfwood voice.
Wolfwood's biology schooling over at the Eye of Michael didn't exactly extend much beyond which organs to aim for in order to ensure instant death. Assuming Vash can be classified as human (and the jury's still out on that one), his body is more like 70 percent iron and 30 percent parts-that-will-soon-be-replaced-with-iron. If he ever walked past a lifting magnet, he'd probably get half of his internal organs ripped out of his torso. And he'd probably survive that, too–the monster–at least long enough to lecture Wolfwood on the virtues of lifting magnets, and how it's entirely possible that they could one day decide not to attract metal, if given a proper chance to reform.

Why I Rec This Fic: Wolfwoods gender anxiety is relatable and beautiful written.
