Why I Rec This Fic: There are some really nice stories about Briar Rose and her relationship to her new name and role, but most of them are really sad (which they are allowed to be, its a topic with plenty of room for that) but softie as i am tend to be more drawn to this one: Its hopeful.
In the morning, descending the tower's long spiral stair with Phillip, it had been all right - it had been more than all right. Daylight pierced the tower in long, slender shafts through the narrow windows - just like the arrows, Phillip explained, that these windows were designed to keep out. She peered through, looking out over the land.
