X men - work our fingers down to dust
Fandom: Xmen movies: xmen (2000), x 2 (2003), last stand (2006), apocalypse (2016)
Music: The Gaslight Anthem - Mae
Summary: absolute self-indulgent : "I want to wrap all of the kids in the xmen verse up and keep them safe"-feels.
Notes:
This video made me feel so much better which is like weird, but I just had lots of fun making it (not that I did not have fun making my other vids).
Sometimes I am just hit hard by need/wants for specific stories/fandoms/etc and fall head first into obessions for a while that can be a week or a month sometimes its long time, I guess its strange, it feels strange to me, sometimes it tiring to feel so hard for something (my mind is not my friend and it can be very hard to make it stop/redirect it when it gets hung on some through)
so thats how last week I watched all the x men movies I could get my hands on repeatly including Wolverine: Orgins, X men Last stand, and the Rogue cut for Days of the future past which I had not seen before (this has no value of information in relation to this video, just saying it because i have emotions about xmen and this emotions now includ this movies too)
I vid this "blind" just patching part to part, it is not a very lyrical tangled vid, more a little mood piece.
My fav scene in X2 is when Logan says, "Go! I can do this alone!" something along the line when he meets Stryker who attacked the school and Rogue says "But we can´t" and thats why I made this video.
There are many scenes that are not in the video that i wanted to include, (i own the first class movie but my pc did not want to rip it I found some scenes on yt (same for the last stand deleted scene) - (for example the one after Shawn came and took Angle and killed Darwin, the way Charles runs to hug Raven, and how he wanted to send the "kids" home, but they and Erik protested).
Xmen: Rogue: "why don´t we get any?" Bobby: Yeah where are ours? - Wolverine: "oh they are orderd and should arrive in a few years"
alternative ending scene for last stand: Bobby to Storm *laughing*: "Looks like we need a few more suits"
Apocalypse: -Mystique: "You got a warjet, now lets go to war"
-Jean: "Were you scared?" - Mystique: "No," Pause "but on my first mission I was scared, I was in a jet like this one with my friends, around your age, we called ourself the X-Men [...]" - Nightcrawler: "what happend to the other kids? the x men?" - Mystique:"Hank and me are the only one left, I couldn´t save the other ones." (i love so much about this, how she starts this story, sounding happy, remembering her friends, how she puts the blame/failure on herself, its definitly one of my better liked scenes in apocalypse (which maybe my least favorite x men movie so far)
-Mystique: "You are not kids anymore, you are not students, you are Xmen!"

Date: 2018-06-15 05:54 pm (UTC)Lots of great clip placement -- musically, I love the part where right after "with the radio on", the... tempo? (IDK, I'm bad at music terminology) changes and you have shots of kids running down the hall. It feels like the sound and the visuals are both raising the stakes there, if that makes sense. I love those moments in fanvids.
And finally, I love how you put all the similar moments from the movies together to show the patterns of X-Men stories -- from finding children for the school, to traveling on the jet, to Wolverine carrying children in his arms. (And if Wolverine carrying children in his arms isn't a hallmark of X-Men stories, I don't know what is!)

Date: 2018-06-15 06:52 pm (UTC)i don´t know any music terminology either - but i am very happy to hear this words because making this video the hardest challenge for me was, that at first i wanted to have the "suits" (or at least one of them) for "your mommas party dress" but it would have the vid from 0-100 to quick and making the process from kids being in their parents living room, to kids fighting in a war for their existence. so hearing that what i finaly found worked makes me very happy!! (the running for their live is in my head forever linked to that phrase (Mal Reynolds says it in Firefly too) "the tip tapper of small feets (he says it in the "I am not a dad" voice while yelling at River and Kylee not to run between the storage)
Wolverine carrying kids in his arms is definitly essential Xmen stuff - and also the reason why I made this video (that and the way he hands them to the older kids? I have many emotions about this)
